In an unashamed piece of biased library promotion, I have written an article for the Local Government Web Network's magazine, Stories. I encourage you to have a look through all the articles - there's some really interesting stuff on a wide range of topics related to local government and the web.
It's called, Your Web Team Needs a Librarian, and it outlines the problem I have with local government web sites being run by either the IT or Communications/Martketing department, which typically have management responsibility for the organisation's website. It makes a case for establishing web teams in local government and including library professionals in those teams.
If any of that sounds interesting to you, you can read it here. And feel free to share your thoughts about how local government web sites should be managed - leave me a comment.
